Trancers

Jack Deth is a trooper in Angel City, the grim Los Angeles of 2247, who has spent years hunting Martin Whistler, a criminal with psychic abilities who turns ordinary people into pliable, zombie-like beings known as Trancers. Whistler escapes into the past, surfacing in 1985 Los Angeles, where he sets out to kill the ancestors of the council that governs Angel City, so that its members will never be born. Deth follows him back through time by taking over the body of one of his own ancestors. In the 1980s he gains a partner and a love interest in Leena, and he carries a device that lets him freeze the world around him for a few seconds.

Charles Band directed the film, his second, following Parasite and preceding The Dungeonmaster. It was produced by Empire Pictures and Altar Productions from a screenplay by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo. Tim Thomerson plays Jack Deth, Helen Hunt plays Leena, and Michael Stefani plays Whistler and Detective Weisling. Biff Manard, Art LaFleur and Telma Hopkins are among the credited cast of 24, alongside a credited crew of 50.

The film runs 77 minutes. Its ratings sit at 6 out of 10 on IMDb from about 8,900 votes and 6 out of 10 on TMDB from 234 votes, while critics' reviews average 6.9 out of 10 across nine notices, a warmer reception than the similar audience scores suggest.
