Tread is a crime documentary set in a small town at the base of the Rocky Mountains. It follows the story of a skilled welder who feels pushed to his limits by those he believes have treated him unfairly. In response, he spends a significant amount of time secretly modifying a bulldozer, adding 30 tons of steel and concrete to create a fortified vehicle used to attack his perceived enemies.
The film was directed by Paul Solet, appearing fourth in his directorial chronology after Grace, Tales of Halloween, and Bullet Head, and before Clean and Chowchilla. The production was supported by companies including Gravitas Ventures and Great Point Media, with Doug Liman serving as one of the producers. The cast features Robert Fleet as Marvin Heemeyer, alongside Mike McCann, Kelly Ryan, John Robert Schoen, and Michael Whitelock.
Released on February 21, 2020, with a runtime of 88 minutes, the movie has received generally positive feedback.
