Kaamelott: The First Chapter

Kaamelott: The First Chapter continues the story told in Alexandre Astier's television series about King Arthur and his court. Arthur has taken refuge in Rome, where he plans his return, while his former friend Lancelot, backed by Saxon mercenaries, holds the kingdom of Logres under a harsh rule. Arthur's supporters, angered by this state of affairs, call for him to come back and form a resistance. To restore peace, Arthur must bring the rebellious clans together and take back Kaamelott from his rival.

Alexandre Astier wrote and directed the film, which followed his two animated features based on the Asterix comics, released in 2014 and 2018. He also leads the cast as Arthur Pendragon, alongside Lionnel Astier as Léodagan, Anne Girouard as Guenièvre, Thomas Cousseau as Lancelot, Franck Pitiot as Perceval and Jean-Christophe Hembert as Karadoc. The production counted 72 credited cast members, reflecting the large ensemble carried over from the series. Made for about 18 million USD, the film took roughly 19 million USD worldwide.

Audience responses were moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from around 4,700 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6.6 from some 768 votes.
