Those Who Wish Me Dead

Those Who Wish Me Dead follows Hannah Faber, a firefighter and survival expert working alone at an observation tower in the Montana wilderness after a tragedy on a previous operation that she blames herself for. When a twelve-year-old boy named Connor witnesses a murder, two killers set out to eliminate the only witness, and he ends up alone in the forest with them closing in. Hannah takes him under her protection, and the two of them must evade the pursuers while a large forest fire spreads through the area, threatening everyone caught in it.

The film was directed by Taylor Sheridan, his second feature as director after Wind River in 2017, and written by Charles Leavitt, Sheridan and Michael Koryta, with Steven Zaillian among the producers. Angelina Jolie plays Hannah, Finn Little plays Connor, and Jon Bernthal, Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen and Jake Weber appear in supporting roles. It was released in May 2021 and runs 100 minutes.

Made for about 20 million dollars, the film took in roughly 23 million worldwide, a modest return against its budget. Audience responses have been mixed to mildly positive, with a rating of 6 out of 10 on IMDb from around 78,000 votes and 6.6 out of 10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of under 2,000 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 224 reviews places critical opinion slightly below the audience scores on IMDb.
