Juanita

Juanita is a woman worn down by her adult children and by a life that has left her with little room to breathe. Tired of carrying everyone else's problems, she boards a Greyhound bus and picks a destination almost at random: Paper Moon, Montana. The small town, far from the city she knows, becomes the place where she starts over, forms new ties and works out what she wants for herself.

Clark Johnson directed the film, which sits between The Sentinel and Percy in his filmography. Roderick M. Spencer wrote the screenplay, and the producers include Jason Michael Berman, Mel Jones and Stephanie Allain, with Homegrown Pictures producing. Alfre Woodard plays Juanita, heading a cast that also includes Adam Beach, Ashlie Atkinson, Blair Underwood, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Marcus Henderson, among roughly twenty credited performers. The film runs ninety minutes and is a drama set in the contemporary United States.

Released in March 2019, the film drew modest audience ratings: on IMDb it holds 6.1 out of 10 from around 2,700 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.4 out of 10 from about 91 votes. The much smaller TMDB sample points to a more divided response there, but overall the numbers suggest a limited reach rather than a widely seen release.
