What's left behind the scenes

  • Chris Sarandon, who played Jerry Dandridge in the original 1985 film *Fright Night*, played the role of the highway driver in a cameo appearance.
  • Colin Farrell stated that he would deliver his monologue in Latin because it would sound “more menacing.” He even took Latin lessons with a teacher. The monologue did not make it into the film, however, the teacher was so impressed that she subsequently wrote a scientific paper about her time on set.
  • During the filming of one scene, Colin Farrell went too far and bit stuntman Christopher Mintz-Plasse to the point of drawing blood with prop teeth.
  • The car chase scene was filmed in one long take. Footage of the location and motorcycle was added to the image later.
  • Steven Spielberg's contribution to the film amounted to the following: footage of a crucifix falling into a pool directly in front of the camera was inserted (after Colin Farrell attacks Christopher Mintz-Plasse); when Colin Farrell's appearance proved not frightening enough, at Spielberg's suggestion, the filmmakers returned to the original concept of a jaw resembling a shark's jaw.
  • Colin Farrell's makeup had five stages, with the final stage (when Charlie fights in the basement) created using computer technology.
