Servants

Set in Czechoslovakia during the early 1980s, this drama follows Michal and Juraj, two idealistic students at a theological seminary. As the communist regime attempts to control the church, the friends are forced to choose between collaborating with the secret police or remaining faithful to their convictions. Their friendship is tested as they navigate a world of surveillance and political pressure, where those who resist the state face severe consequences.

The film was directed by Ivan Ostrochovský, marking his second feature following Velvet Terrorists. The screenplay was a collaboration between Ostrochovský, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and Marek Leščák. The main cast features Samuel Polakovič and Samuel Skyva as the two students, alongside Vlad Ivanov, Vladimír Strnisko, Milan Mikulčík, and Tomáš Turek.
