Stéphane, a police officer newly transferred from Cherbourg, joins the anti-crime squad in Montfermeil, a suburb east of Paris, working alongside two experienced colleagues, Chris and Gwada. He quickly learns how tense relations are between the neighbourhood's rival groups and how his fellow officers handle them. During an arrest that spirals out of control, a drone films the officers' actions, and the footage becomes a problem for everyone involved.
The film is directed by Ladj Ly, who wrote the screenplay with Giordano Gederlini and Alexis Manenti, and it was his first feature, followed by Les Indésirables in 2023 and Dumas: Black Devil in 2027. Damien Bonnard plays Stéphane, with Manenti as Chris, Djebril Zonga as Gwada, Steve Tientcheu as the mayor and Jeanne Balibar as the commissioner. Thirty actors are credited.
Made for about 3 million dollars by Lyly Films, Rectangle Productions and Srab Films, the French production took roughly 54 million dollars worldwide, a substantial return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 7.6 out of 10 from around 30,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.6 from about 1,630 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 from 194 reviews places it in line with those audience scores.
