Unicorn Wars

Unicorn Wars is an animated war film about a long-running conflict between bears and unicorns over the Magic Forest. Bear cub recruits are trained and indoctrinated for the fight, taught that the unicorns threaten their survival. Two brothers, Azulín and Gordi, are among a group of inexperienced cadets sent from training camp on a dangerous mission into the forest. Azulín is eager for unicorn blood, while Gordi has no taste for war. Their path leads toward a confrontation that grows increasingly nightmarish.

Alberto Vázquez directed and wrote the screenplay. The film sits between his earlier Scenery and the later Decorado in release order. Chelo Loureiro and Iván Miñambres produced it, and the voice cast includes Jon Goiri as Azulín, Jaione Insausti as Gordi, Ramón Barea as the narrator, Txema Regalado, Manu Heras and Gaizka Soria, among 23 credited performers. It was a co-production of Belgium, Spain and France.

The film was released in October 2022 and runs 93 minutes, mixing action, animation, comedy, fantasy, horror and war. On IMDb it holds 6.9 out of 10 from around 3,100 votes, while on TMDB it scores 7.7 from roughly 240. A critics' rating of 7.2 from 31 reviews places it slightly above the IMDb audience figure.
