Father There Is Only One centres on Javier, a father of five children aged between four and twelve who is convinced he knows exactly how a household should be run even though he leaves the housework and the parenting to his wife, Marisa. When she goes away on a trip and leaves him in charge, he has to cope alone with the children, and the disorder at home grows steadily until it turns into chaos. The experience also gives the parents and the children a chance to get to know one another properly.
Santiago Segura directed the film and wrote the screenplay with Marta González de Vega; Segura also produced it with Mercedes Gamero and María Luisa Gutiérrez. It is the sixth of the thirteen films he has directed, following Torrente 5: Operation Eurovegas and preceding Father There Is Only One 2. Segura plays Javier, with Toni Acosta as Marisa and Martina D'Antiochia, Calma Segura, Luna Fulgencio and Carlos González Morollón among the children; the credited cast runs to 41 names.
Released in Spain in 2019, the comedy runs 96 minutes and was made for about 3 million dollars, going on to take roughly 16 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 3,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.7 out of 10 from some 776 votes.
