Fear Street: 1994

Fear Street: 1994 takes place in the town of Shadyside, Ohio, where a history of violence has earned the place a grim reputation. When a new string of killings strikes, a teenager and her friends come to believe that the horrors their community has suffered for generations are connected, and that they may be the next targets. Their attempt to confront the force behind the deaths draws them toward a survivor of an earlier massacre.

The film is adapted from R. L. Stine's Fear Street books, with the story set in 1994 and launched as the first instalment of a trilogy released by Leigh Janiak. Janiak directed it after her 2014 debut Honeymoon, and she also wrote the screenplay with Phil Graziadei. The cast includes Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Benjamin Flores Jr., Julia Rehwald, Fred Hechinger and Maya Hawke, among 35 credited performers.

Released in June 2021, the film had a budget of about 10 million dollars and went on to gross roughly 284 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 109,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.7 out of 10 from about 2,754 votes. A critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from 116 reviews places it above its IMDb audience score.
