Blood Quantum takes place on an isolated Mi'kmaq reserve called Red Crow, where the dead begin rising and spreading a zombie plague. The Indigenous residents turn out to be immune to the infection, which leaves them defending their community from the hungry undead outside while deciding how to deal with outsiders seeking shelter. At the centre of the story is Traylor, the reserve's sheriff, who tries to protect his people, including his pregnant daughter-in-law, as tensions rise both inside and beyond the barricades.
The film was written and directed by Jeff Barnaby and produced by Robert Vroom and John Christou through Prospector Films. It is a Canadian horror feature running 98 minutes, with Michael Greyeyes as Traylor, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers as Joss, Forrest Goodluck as Joseph, Kiowa Gordon as Lysol, Olivia Scriven as Charlie and Stonehorse Lone Goeman as Gisigu. A credited crew of 63 worked on the production.
Blood Quantum has a critics' rating of 7.1/10 from 92 reviews, notably higher than its audience scores: on IMDb it holds 5.6/10 from around 6,300 votes, and on TMDB 5.8/10 from 197 votes. That gap suggests reviewers responded more positively than general viewers. The film was released in September 2019.
