Death of Me is a horror mystery about an American couple, Christine and Neil, vacationing on a remote island in Thailand. After a heavy night out, they wake with no memory of what happened, and the day goes wrong from there. When they play back video from the night before, they see themselves taking part in a local ritual that appears to end with Neil killing Christine, even though she is alive and well. The film follows the pair as they try to work out what really occurred and find themselves pulled deeper into something they cannot explain.
Darren Lynn Bousman directed, working from a screenplay by James Morley III, David Tish and Ariel Margolis. The film came out in 2020, the ninth of the twelve features Bousman has directed to date, arriving between St. Agatha and Spiral: From the Book of Saw in his filmography and returning him to the horror territory of the Saw sequels he made earlier in his career. Maggie Q plays Christine and Luke Hemsworth plays Neil, with Alex Essoe, Kat Ingkarat, Kelly B. Jones and Caledonia Burr among the supporting cast; 22 cast members and 59 crew are credited.
Produced by David Buelow, Lee Nelson and David Tish, the film is a US-Thai co-production shot with Thai production backing. On IMDb it holds a 4.2/10 critics' rating from 41 reviews, while on TMDB it stands at 5/10 from 276 votes, a small sample placing audience feeling above critical opinion.
