Wu Ming-han is a police officer whose life is thrown off course when he picks up an unusual red envelope. It turns out to be a marriage envelope prepared by the grieving grandmother of Mao Pang-yu, a young man killed in a hit-and-run. According to an old Taiwanese superstition, whoever finds such an envelope must marry the spirit of the deceased to bring them peace, or else misfortune will follow. Ming-han initially refuses, but after a series of mishaps he reluctantly accepts the arrangement and sets out to find whoever was responsible for his ghost husband's death.
The film is a Taiwanese mix of action, comedy, horror and mystery, directed by Cheng Wei-hao, who wrote the screenplay with Sharon Wu and had previously made The Tag-Along and The Soul. It came third in his filmography, before Vanishing Point. Greg Hsu plays Ming-han, Austin Lin plays Mao Pang-yu, and Gingle Wang, Tsai Chen-nan, Wang Man-chiao and Tsung-Hua Tou appear alongside them among a credited cast of sixty-one. Lin Shih-ken produced.
Made for about 2 million US dollars, the film took roughly 15 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On TMDB it holds a 7.1 out of 10 from about 225 votes, indicating a generally favourable audience response.
