Causeway

Lynsey, an engineer serving with the United States Army in Afghanistan, is injured by an explosive device and returns home to New Orleans with a traumatic brain injury. Her recovery is slow and painstaking, involving relearning how to walk and how to rely on her memory, and she lives with her mother while their relationship remains strained. What she wants most is to return to her job, but the adjustment proves difficult. She takes work cleaning at a public pool and meets James, a local mechanic, and the two gradually form a bond, each carrying burdens from the past that they help one another bear.
