The Immortal

The Immortal is a crime thriller that serves as a prequel to the series Gomorra. The story follows Ciro Di Marzio, known as the Immortal, as he navigates a life of gang warfare and violence. The narrative shifts between Ciro's present as a skilled assassin and his early years in Naples, beginning with his survival as an infant during a 1980 earthquake. As an exile, Ciro reunites with his first mentor, Bruno, to undertake a new mission while dealing with the trauma and loss associated with his criminal upbringing.

Directed by Marco D'Amore, this was the first of two films he has directed, preceding his 2024 work Caracas. D'Amore also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, and he stars as the title character. The cast includes Salvatore D'Onofrio and Giovanni Vastarella as Bruno in different stages of life, as well as Giuseppe Aiello as a young Ciro.

The production was a joint effort between companies in Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.2 on IMDb based on 20,000 votes, while a smaller group of 509 users gave it a higher score of 6.6 on TMDB.
