I Care a Lot

Marla Grayson works as a court-appointed legal guardian, a position she uses to take control of wealthy older people and drain their assets while presenting herself as their caretaker. Her partner, Fran, helps her run the scheme, and together they have built a comfortable life from it. Their next target is Jennifer Peterson, a retired woman who appears to be an easy mark. What Marla does not know is that Jennifer has secrets of her own, and that taking her on brings Marla into conflict with someone far more dangerous than any of her previous clients.

J Blakeson wrote, directed and produced the film, his third feature after The Disappearance of Alice Creed and The 5th Wave, and the cast is led by Rosamund Pike as Marla, Eiza González as Fran, Dianne Wiest as Jennifer Peterson and Peter Dinklage as Roman Lunyov, with Chris Messina and Isiah Whitlock Jr. among the supporting players.

The film was released in 2021 and runs 119 minutes, mixing crime, thriller, drama and comedy. It holds a 6.4 rating on IMDb from about 158,000 votes and a 6.6 on TMDB from roughly 3,000 votes, while critics gave it 7 out of 10 across 234 reviews, a warmer reception than that of the general audience.
