Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers finds the cat and mouse aboard a pirate ship commanded by the fearsome Red Pirate Ron. Tom serves as a crew member, and when a treasure map turns up in a bottle, both he and the stowaway Jerry want it for themselves. Their squabbling over the map sets off a race to a distant island, where ruthless pirates, hostile monkeys and a giant octopus stand between the pair and the promised riches. The film is an animated pirate adventure built around the duo's long-running rivalry.
Scott Jeralds directed, following three Scooby-Doo animated features he made between 2003 and 2004. Christopher Painter wrote the screenplay, and Jeralds produced with Tom Minton. The voice cast includes Mark Hamill, Kathy Najimy, Charles Nelson Reilly, Kevin Michael Richardson and Wallace Shawn; William Hanna's voice is heard as Tom and Jerry through archive recordings. The film runs 74 minutes and was produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Turner Entertainment, with production involving the United States and Korea.
Released in August 2006, the film holds an IMDb rating of 6.4 from around 2,500 votes and a TMDB rating of 6.9 from a much smaller pool of 178 votes. Those figures indicate a modest but generally favorable response from viewers, with the smaller TMDB sample skewing slightly higher.
