Heartless

Set on the northeast coast of Brazil during the summer of 1996, this drama follows a young woman named Tamara. As she spends her final weeks in a fishing village before moving to Brasilia for her education, she becomes intrigued by a local teenager. This other girl carries a scar on her chest that has earned her the nickname Heartless. Over the course of the season, Tamara develops a growing attraction toward the mysterious youth.

The film was directed by Nara Normande and Tião, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It is the second feature directed by the duo, following their 2017 work Political Animal. The production was a collaboration between companies from Brazil, Italy, and France, with Maya de Vicq and Eduarda Samara starring in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Maeve Jinkings, Erom Cordeiro, Ian Boechat, and Kaique Brito, among a total of 37 credited performers.

Since its release in April 2024, the movie has received a generally positive response from audiences. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 6.4/10 based on 649 votes, while on TMDB, it has a slightly higher score of 6.8/10 from 26 votes.
