Three Floors is an Italian drama directed by Nanni Moretti, who also produced and co-wrote the screenplay with Federica Pontremoli and Valia Santella. The film follows three households living in the same multi-storey building in a Roman neighbourhood over a span of years. Among the residents are Lucio and Sara, a young couple who come to suspect their neighbour Renato; Monica, raising two children while her husband Giorgio is away for work; and Dora, a retired judge whose husband Vittorio still practises law. A series of events reshapes the lives of the building's inhabitants, exposing how difficult it can be to act as a parent, sibling or neighbour, and the women in particular try to mend the fractures around them.
The cast includes Margherita Buy as Dora, Riccardo Scamarcio as Lucio, Alba Rohrwacher as Monica, Adriano Giannini as Giorgio, Elena Lietti as Sara and Alessandro Sperduti as Andrea, among 27 credited performers. It sits between We Have a Pope (2011) and A Brighter Tomorrow (2023) in Moretti's filmography.
Released in September 2021, the film runs 119 minutes and was made for a budget of 8 million USD, earning 4 million USD worldwide. Audiences rate it modestly, at 6.4/10 on IMDb from around 3,500 votes and 6.3/10 on TMDB from roughly 322 votes. A critics' rating of 4.9/10 from 23 reviews places it below those audience scores, indicating a mixed response from reviewers compared with viewers.
