Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero returns to the Red Ribbon Army, the criminal organization Son Goku once wiped out. A faction of survivors has revived it, led by Magenta, son of the former commander Red, who recruits the scientist Dr. Hedo to build two powerful androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. The pair consider themselves superheroes and go after Piccolo and Son Gohan, drawing Earth's defenders into a conflict with the reborn army. Piccolo infiltrates the group's hidden base and learns what its leaders are really planning.
The film is directed by Tetsuro Kodama, with a screenplay by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the manga the series is based on. Masako Nozawa voices Goku, Gohan, Goten and Gotenks, Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo, and Yuko Minaguchi voices Pan and Videl. Hiroshi Kamiya and Mamoru Miyano voice the two androids, and Miyu Irino voices Dr. Hedo.
Released in June 2022, the film runs 100 minutes and is an action-driven animated science fiction story produced in Japan by Toei Animation, Shueisha, Fuji Television Network and Bandai Namco Entertainment. It earned about 87 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 7.1 out of 10 from roughly 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.9 from around 3,000 votes, a warmer audience response than the IMDb figure. A critics' score of 7.3 from 58 reviews places it close to the audience ratings.
