  • The film is based on George Jonas's book "Vengeance: The True Story of an Israeli Counter-Terrorist Team." A television film, "Gideon's Sword," was also made based on this book in 1986.
  • Steven Spielberg's daughter, Sasha Spielberg, played the role of an Israeli girl watching television.
  • Steven Spielberg intended to film this movie with a release date targeted for 2003 or 2004. However, after a window opened in Tom Cruise's shooting schedule, Steven preferred to put this project on hold and work with Tom on 'War of the Worlds'.
  • Initially, the role that went to Geoffrey Rush was to be played by Ben Kingsley. The actor had to leave the project due to a conflict with his personal filming schedule.
