Detention

Set in Taiwan during the 1960s, this supernatural thriller follows two students searching for their missing peers and instructors. These individuals were all members of a secret club dedicated to studying forbidden literature. As the pair navigates their school, they find the building has transformed into a desolate landscape inhabited by ghosts and deformed monsters. The students must survive these creatures while uncovering the dark history and truths hidden within the campus.

The film was directed by John Hsu, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Chien Shih-keng and Lyra Fu. This was the first of two films directed by Hsu, followed by Dead Talents Society in 2024. The production was a collaboration between Taiwan and the Philippines, involving companies such as the Taipei Film Commission and Kaohsiung Film Fund. The cast features Gingle Wang as Fang Ray-Shin and Fu Meng-Po as Zhang Ming-Hui, supported by Tseng Jing-hua, Cecilia Choi, Chu Hung-Chang, and Liu Yue-Ti.
