Short description
Halloween Ends is the thirteenth film in the Halloween series and the third in the trilogy David Gordon Green began with Halloween in 2018. It is set four years after the events of that film. Laurie Strode has put aside her fear and anger and is trying to live a quiet life in Haddonfield with her granddaughter Allyson, working on her memoirs. Michael Myers has not been seen in that time, though the memory of him persists.
The arrival of Corey Cunningham unsettles the town. He is accused of killing a child he was babysitting, and the accusation turns the community against him. His relationship with Allyson draws him into the Strode household, while a new wave of killings shocks Haddonfield and brings Laurie face to face with the evil she has been unable to escape.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie, with Andi Matichak as Allyson, Rohan Campbell as Corey, James Jude Courtney as The Shape and Will Patton as Frank. Green directed from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Chris Bernier; Bill Block, Jason Blum and Malek Akkad produced. Made for about 33 million dollars, it grossed roughly 105 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5 out of 10 from 82,000 votes, and on TMDB 6 out of 10 from 2,094 votes; the critics' rating stands at 5.1 out of 10 from 267 reviews.
What's left behind the scenes
- Corey (played by Roen Campbell) is a new character in the franchise, inspired by Arnie (played by Keith Gordon) from John Carpenter's horror film "Christine" (1983). He has the same hairstyle, shirt, and glasses as Arnie.
- At the beginning of the film, the characters of Roen Campbell and Jackson Goldenberg watch John Carpenter's 1982 horror film "The Thing." This is a reference to the original, where Laurie and Tommy watch the 1951 science fiction horror film "The Thing from Another World" by Christian Nyby and Howard Hawks (titled "The Thing from Another World" in English), as well as to Carpenter, who directed the original "Halloween" (1978).
