Robert Downey Jr. was offered the role of Sam Lombard, but he declined it.
Director John McNaughton said he removed a scene in which Matt Dillon and Kevin Bacon bathe together, as he did not want any homosexual undertones in the film.
In an interview, Bacon stated that his contract did not include a clause regarding nudity, and since he was a producer of the film, how could the actor sue himself.
