Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal the Movie Part 1

After a total solar eclipse, a sinister circus arrives and strange events begin to trouble the city. Mamoru falls ill with a mysterious condition, and the Sailor Guardians must reunite to face the dark power spreading across the Earth and restore light to the world. The story adapts the Dream arc of Naoko Takeuchi's manga and follows the Sailor Moon Crystal television series, with Usagi and Chibiusa at the centre of the conflict.

The film is directed by Hiroshi Watanabe and Chiaki Kon; for Kon it arrives between Sekaiichi Hatsukoi Movie and the second Eternal part, while for Watanabe it comes after a run of titles including Guyver: Out of Control, Slayers Return and Slayers Gorgeous. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu wrote the screenplay, and the voice cast includes Kotono Mitsuishi as Usagi, Misato Fukuen as Chibiusa, and Hisako Kanemoto, Rina Sato, Ami Koshimizu and Shizuka Itoh as the other Guardians, among thirty credited cast members.

Released in January 2021, the film runs 81 minutes and was produced in Japan by Toei Animation, Toei Company, Kodansha and Studio Deen. On IMDb it holds a 7.9 rating, close to the critics' score of 7.3 from eleven reviews, indicating broadly favourable responses from both audiences and reviewers.
