Sweet Girl

Ray Cooper's life is torn apart when his wife Amanda dies after being denied access to a medication that a pharmaceutical company withheld from the market. Left to raise their daughter Rachel on his own, he loses faith that the authorities will hold anyone accountable and decides to pursue the people he holds responsible himself, while trying to keep Rachel safe from the danger his pursuit creates.

The film is the feature directing debut of Brian Andrew Mendoza, who also produced alongside Jason Momoa and Brad Peyton. Momoa plays Ray, with Isabela Merced as Rachel and Adria Arjona as Amanda, supported by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Amy Brenneman and Milena Rivero. The screenplay was written by Philip Eisner, Will Staples and Gregg Hurwitz.

Made in the United States by Pride of Gypsies, ASAP Entertainment and On the Roam, Sweet Girl runs 110 minutes and was released in August 2021. Reception was mixed: on IMDb it holds 5.5/10 from around 38,000 votes, a somewhat warmer 6.6/10 on TMDB from roughly 1,300 votes, while a critics' rating of 4.3/10 from 59 reviews places professional opinion below both audience scores.
