C'mon C'mon

Johnny is a radio journalist whose work takes him across the United States, interviewing children about their hopes, fears and ideas about the future. When his sister Viv, from whom he has grown distant, asks him to look after her nine-year-old son Jesse, Johnny agrees despite having no experience of caring for a child. He brings his nephew along on his travels, and the two of them make their way from Los Angeles through other parts of the country. The trip forms the setting for a relationship that develops between an adult unaccustomed to responsibility for anyone else and a boy spending an extended period apart from his mother.

Mike Mills wrote and directed the film, his fifth feature after Paperboys, Thumbsucker, Beginners and 20th Century Women. Joaquin Phoenix plays Johnny, with Gaby Hoffmann as Viv, Woody Norman as Jesse, Scoot McNairy as Paul, Molly Webster as Roxanne and Jaboukie Young-White as Fern among a credited cast of 53. Lila Yacoub, Chelsea Barnard and Andrea Longacre-White produced, and the film was made for a budget of 8 million dollars, going on to take around 4 million worldwide.

It drew a critics' rating of 8.1 out of 10 from 216 reviews, while audiences gave it 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb from 43,000 votes and 7.1 out of 10 on TMDB from 796 votes.
