Madame Web follows Cassandra Webb, a paramedic working in Manhattan who discovers she may have clairvoyant abilities. Confronted with revelations about her past, she forms a bond with three young women whose futures appear to hold great power, provided all of them can survive the dangers closing in on them. Dakota Johnson plays Cassandra, with Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O'Connor as the three young women and Tahar Rahim as Ezekiel Sims. The film draws on the Marvel Comics character known as Madame Web.
S.J. Clarkson directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing. It is the second feature Clarkson has directed, following Toast in 2010. The film had a budget of 80 million US dollars and took in about 100 million US dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.1 out of 10 from roughly 114,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.3 out of 10 from around 2,700 votes. A critics' rating of 3.4 out of 10 from 269 reviews places it below both audience scores.
