Mauvais Sang

Set in a near-future Paris, Mauvais Sang follows two aging crooks, Marc and Hans, who owe a large sum to an uncompromising American woman. She gives them two weeks to settle the debt. To raise the money, they plan to steal the vaccine for STBO, a sexually transmitted virus that strikes people who make love without being in love, and sell it to a rival firm. Needing a third man, they recruit Alex, a young drifter and card sharp who has just broken up with his girlfriend Lise. He joins the scheme, then falls for Anna, Marc's companion, which strains the group as the robbery approaches.

The film is Leos Carax's second feature, following Boy Meets Girl, which he also wrote and directed, and it precedes The Lovers on the Bridge. It stars Denis Lavant as Alex, Juliette Binoche as Anna, Michel Piccoli as Marc, Hans Meyer as Hans, Julie Delpy as Lise and Carroll Brooks as The American. Alain Dahan produced; it was made in France and Switzerland.
