Deb has spent years refusing to help her daughter Molly again. After a decade of opioid addiction, repeated attempts at treatment and broken promises, Molly has worn out her family's patience. She arrives at her mother's door with one more chance: a new medication that could help her stay clean, but only if she can get through four days without using. Deb reluctantly agrees to see her through it, and the two women are forced to confront the damage they have done to each other while the days pass.
Mila Kunis plays Molly and Glenn Close plays Deb in this drama directed by Rodrigo García, who wrote the screenplay with Eli Saslow. It is the seventh of the ten features García has directed, arriving between Last Days in the Desert and Raymond & Ray. The supporting cast includes Stephen Root, Joshua Leonard, Rebecca Field and Michael Hyatt.
Released in April 2021, the film drew modest but not dismissive responses. On IMDb it holds 6.6 from around sixteen thousand votes, and on TMDB 6.8 from roughly three hundred, both suggesting a generally favourable audience. A critics' score of 5.7 from seventy-eight reviews is lower, indicating that reviewers were less convinced than viewers.
