Joon-young is a Korean professor of English literature and a committed bachelor, content to drift through life without much direction. His younger brother and his friends have all married, but he has resisted settling down. Yeon-hee is a woman in her thirties determined to find a suitable husband, judging partners by social and economic standing rather than love. The two meet on a blind date and quickly find they have little in common intellectually, yet feel an immediate physical and emotional attraction. Taking a practical view of the situation, they begin a casual physical relationship while she continues her search for a more appropriate husband and he keeps his distance from commitment.
Marriage Is a Crazy Thing is a 2002 Korean drama and romance directed by Yoo Ha, who also wrote the screenplay. It was the first film he directed, ahead of Once Upon a Time in High School in 2004, A Dirty Carnival in 2006, A Frozen Flower in 2008 and Gangnam Blues in 2015. The leading roles are played by Uhm Jung-hwa as Yeon-hee and Kam Woo-sung as Joon-young, with supporting performances from Park Won-sang, Lee Joo-sil, Kim Ki-chun and Yoon Ye-Ri. Yun Sang Oh produced, and the film runs 103 minutes. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 40 votes, a modest score from a small sample that suggests a limited but generally favourable response.
