No Sudden Move

In 1950s Detroit, a group of small-time criminals is hired for what appears to be a simple job involving a document. When the plan goes wrong, they set out to find who hired them and why, a search that draws them into the city's criminal underworld and its racial tensions.

The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh, working from a screenplay by Ed Solomon, with Casey Silver producing. It is the twenty-ninth of the thirty-five films Soderbergh has directed in chronological order, arriving between Let Them All Talk and Kimi. Don Cheadle plays Curtis Goynes, alongside Benicio del Toro as Ronald Russo, David Harbour as Matt Wertz, Jon Hamm as Detective Joe Finney, Ray Liotta as Frank Capelli and Brendan Fraser as Douglas Jones. The credited cast runs to thirty-two names and the credited crew to sixty-two. It was released in June 2021 by Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO Max, and runs 115 minutes.

Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 45,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from about 841 votes. Critics were more favourable, with a critics' rating of 7.8 out of 10 from 141 reviews, a notably higher figure than either audience score.
