Pixie is a British crime comedy set in Ireland. Its central character is a young woman who wants to avenge her mother's death and plans a robbery as a way out of her small-town life and her criminal family. When the scheme goes wrong, she finds herself on the run with a stolen drug haul, pursued by gangsters. Two young men who stumble into saving her life are persuaded to join her, and the three of them try to escape the reach of a former priest turned crime boss. The film is directed by Barnaby Thompson, from a screenplay by Preston Thompson. It is Barnaby Thompson's third feature as director, following two St Trinian's films, and it comes well before his later documentary work. Olivia Cooke leads the cast as Pixie, with Ben Hardy, Daryl McCormack, Colm Meaney, Rory Fleck-Byrne and Alec Baldwin among the principal players. The production involves a credited cast of 28 and a crew of 139.
The film is 93 minutes long and was released in October 2020. It is a UK production from Fragile Films. On IMDb, viewers rate it 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 6,000 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 5.8 out of 10 from about 152 votes. Among the 53 reviews counted, critics give it 6.4 out of 10, which places it noticeably higher than the audience scores on both sites.
