Vacation Friends

Vacation Friends is a comedy about a reserved couple, Marcus and Emily, who meet a wild, impulsive pair named Ron and Kyla while on holiday in Mexico. Letting loose for a week, Marcus and Emily enjoy the kind of uninhibited fun they would never normally allow themselves. Months later, back in the United States and preparing for their wedding, they are stunned when Ron and Kyla turn up uninvited and begin causing chaos around the ceremony.

The film was directed by Clay Tarver, who wrote the screenplay with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. It was produced by Todd Garner and Timothy M. Bourne for 20th Century Studios and Broken Road Productions. The cast is led by Lil Rel Howery as Marcus and Yvonne Orji as Emily, with John Cena as Ron and Meredith Hagner as Kyla, while Robert Wisdom and Lynn Whitfield appear as Harold and Suzanne. The production credits list 29 cast members and 164 crew members.

Released in August 2021, Vacation Friends runs 103 minutes and marks Tarver's first feature as director; he returned to the characters two years later with Vacation Friends 2. Audiences responded more warmly than critics: on IMDb the film holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 34,000 votes, and on TMDB it scores 7 out of 10 from about 921 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 5.5 out of 10 from 76 reviews.
