Sarah works in an arts and crafts shop and spends much of her time alone, filling her days with crafts, horses and television series about the supernatural. She begins to build a social life, but strange experiences start to intrude: vivid and unsettlingly realistic dreams, sleepwalking and other signs that either she is losing her grip on reality or the world around her is coming apart. Her waking life and her dreams increasingly overlap, and she sets out to find the truth, however abstract it may be.
The film is directed by Jeff Baena, who wrote the screenplay with Alison Brie. It is his fourth feature, following Life After Beth, Joshy and The Little Hours, and it came before Spin Me Round. Brie stars as Sarah, with Debby Ryan, John Reynolds, Molly Shannon, John Ortiz and Meredith Hagner among the supporting cast. The production, from Duplass Brothers Productions, credits 29 cast members and 154 crew.
Released in January 2020, the film runs 103 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from around 22,000 votes. On TMDB it has a rating of 5.7 out of 10 from roughly 614 votes. A film critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 57 reviews places critics slightly above the audience scores on both sites.
