Samurai Cop

Joe Marshall is a police officer trained in the martial arts in Japan, and he is sent to Los Angeles to help the local force deal with the Katana Gang, a Japanese-American crime organization that controls gambling, extortion and drugs in the Little Tokyo district of downtown Los Angeles. Under its boss Fujiyama and his enforcer Yamashita, the gang answers betrayal or failure with death, which has left the police unable to prove anything against it. Working alongside his friend Officer Frank Washington, Joe scores an early success that provokes the gang into a violent campaign against the police, and the two men find themselves in a running confrontation with the organization.

Samurai Cop was directed by Amir Shervan, who also wrote and produced it. It was his second feature, following Young Rebels in 1989. The cast includes Mathew Karedas as Joe Marshall, Mark Frazer as Frank Washington, Cranston Komuro as Fujiyama, Robert Z'Dar as Yamashita, Gerald Okamura as Okamura and Melissa Moore as Peggy. It runs 96 minutes.

On TMDB the film holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from 218 votes, which places it well below the average audience response to mainstream action releases of its time.
