The Great Magic

Set in a French seaside resort during the 1920s, this comedy and music film follows a group of bored hotel guests. During a performance by a shabby magician named Albert Marvuglia, the unhappy wife of a wealthy man, Marta, participates in a disappearance act. She uses the trick as an opportunity to escape her marriage and her husband, Charles. To address Charles's demands for her return, the magician gives him a box, claiming Marta is inside. He warns that she will vanish forever if the box is opened without absolute faith in her, leaving Charles torn by doubt.

The film was directed by Noémie Lvovsky, who also co-wrote the screenplay and appears in the cast as Zaïra. This production marks the second film directed by Lvovsky, following Feelings from 2003. The main cast includes Denis Podalydès, Sergi López, Rebecca Marder, Judith Chemla, and François Morel. A joint production between France and Germany, the movie features a credited crew of 62 people.
