The Ties

Set in Naples during the early 1980s, this drama focuses on the breakdown of Aldo and Vanda's marriage after Aldo confesses to being unfaithful. As Vanda struggles to shield their two school-aged children from the emotional fallout and the loss of trust within their home, the family is fractured by resentment. The story follows the couple and their children over the next three decades, showing how the events of that period continue to define their connections and behavior long after the initial betrayal.

The film was directed by Daniele Luchetti, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Domenico Starnone and Francesco Piccolo. In the chronological order of Luchetti's work, this project follows My Brother Is an Only Child and Those Happy Years, and precedes Raffa and Trust. The cast features Alba Rohrwacher and Luigi Lo Cascio in the earlier roles of Vanda and Aldo, while Laura Morante and Silvio Orlando portray the characters in the later timeline.
