Mooz-lum

Mooz-lum follows Tariq, a young man raised in a strict Muslim household that kept him largely apart from the wider world around him. His first year at college opens him to new experiences and people, until the September 11 attacks change how his classmates see him, bringing suspicion and hostility into his daily life. The film centers on how Tariq navigates that shift while holding on to his sense of self.

The drama was directed by Qasim Basir and produced by Eddie Rubin. Evan Ross plays Tariq, with Nia Long as Safiyah, Danny Glover as Dean Francis, Summer Bishil as Iman, Dorian Missick as Professor Jamal, and Kunal Sharma as Hamza. It runs 95 minutes and was released in February 2011.
