Drift Away

Laurent is a young gendarmerie commander in a small Normandy town who finds fulfillment in his career despite the social hardships he encounters. As he prepares to marry his partner, Marie, and raise their daughter, his stability is shattered during an attempt to save a farmer who is threatening suicide. This accidental death disrupts his personal life and professional standing, leading him to seek a way to find redemption.

Directed by Xavier Beauvois, the film follows his previous works To Mathieu, Of Gods and Men, and The Guardians, and precedes his 2024 project Sailing Home. The screenplay was written by Beauvois alongside Marie-Julie Maille and Frédérique Moreau.
