Short description

Shimajiro in Bookland is an animated family adventure featuring a young tiger named Shimajiro. The fantasy story incorporates musical elements and themes of war as the protagonist navigates a world based on picture books.

The film was co-directed by Hiroshi Kawamata and Isamu Hirabayashi. It represents the second collaboration between the two directors following 2014's Shimajiro and the Song of the Whale. For Hirabayashi, this project follows three previous films and precedes the 2017 release Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis. The screenplay was written by Takashi Yamada and produced by Tsutomu Chuji, Shiho Kawahara, and Yutaka Sugiyama. The Japanese production involved TOHO, KBS Media, Benesse, and Sony Music Direct.

The voice cast features Omi Minami as Shimajiro Shimano, alongside Miki Takahashi, Takumi Yamazaki, Saori Sugimoto, Maaya Uchida, and Minoru Inaba. Released in April 2016 with a runtime of 61 minutes, the movie is the fourth installment in the series starring the title character. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 6.9/10 based on 34 votes.
