Abandoned as an infant in the mountains of Greece, Jon is raised by adoptive parents. As a young man, a fatal accident leads to his imprisonment, where he develops a relationship with a prison warden named Iro. As Jon's eyesight begins to fade, he finds that each loss in his life is met with a corresponding gain, allowing him to experience existence more fully despite becoming blind.
Written and directed by Angela Schanelec, this drama was the first of two listed films in her recent career, preceding My Wife Cries. The movie features Aliocha Schneider as Jon and Agathe Bonitzer as Iro, with additional performances by Marissa Triantafyllidou, Argyris Xafis, and Frida Tarana and Ninel Skrzypczyk, who play Phoebe at different ages. A co-production between Germany, Greece, Serbia, and France, the project involved production companies including WDR and ARTE.
The film received a moderate response from viewers, earning a rating of 5.4/10 on IMDb from 583 votes and a 5.5/10 on TMDB from 20 votes.
