Infinity Pool

James and Em Foster are a wealthy couple vacationing at an all-inclusive resort on the island of La Tolqa, where pristine beaches and attentive service make the trip seem ideal. Encouraged by Gabi, a mysterious and alluring fellow guest, they leave the resort grounds and encounter a culture shaped by hedonism and violence. A fatal accident follows, and the couple discovers that the island applies a zero-tolerance policy to crime. Wealthy offenders can avoid execution by paying for a substitute to die in their place, and James is drawn into the consequences of that arrangement.

Brandon Cronenberg wrote and directed the film, his third feature after Antiviral and Possessor, working with producers Hengameh Panahi, Noah Segal and Rob Cotterill. Alexander Skarsgård plays James, Mia Goth plays Gabi, and Cleopatra Coleman plays Em, with Jalil Lespert, Adam Boncz and Amanda Brugel in supporting roles. The production was a Hungarian, Canadian, American and French co-production with a budget of about 5 million US dollars, and it grossed a similar amount worldwide, a modest theatrical return for a genre title.

On IMDb, voters rate the film 6 out of 10 from roughly 73,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6 out of 10, though from about 1,115 votes. A critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from 237 reviews places professional assessments somewhat above the audience scores. Infinity Pool runs 118 minutes and was released in January 2023.
