The Night Heaven Fell follows Ursula, a young woman who leaves her convent education behind to stay with her aunt Florentine and her uncle, Count Miguel de Ribera, at their estate in southern Spain. There she meets Lambert, a local man who holds the count responsible for his sister's death. The hostility between the two men escalates into violence, and Lambert ends up on the run from the police. Ursula, drawn to him, chooses to share his flight rather than return to the life she left.
The film was directed by Roger Vadim, working from a screenplay he wrote with Jacques Rémy, and produced by Raoul Lévy. It was Vadim's second feature as director, arriving two years after ...And God Created Woman and followed by The Seven Deadly Sins in 1962. Brigitte Bardot, who had starred in that earlier film, plays Ursula, with Alida Valli as Aunt Florentine, Stephen Boyd as Lambert and José Nieto as Count Miguel de Ribera. It is an Italian-French co-production, running 91 minutes in the crime, drama and thriller registers. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from 21 votes, indicating a modest response from the users who have logged it there.
