Short description

This horror film blends traditional folklore from Kazakhstan with modern settings. The plot focuses on the search for true evil, recreating ancient legends of supernatural entities such as Zhestyrnak, Zhalmauyz Kempir, and a ghost from the Kapchagai highway. As the characters encounter these otherworldly threats, they eventually discover that human nature can be more terrifying than the myths themselves.

The movie was produced by Ibro Films and is a joint production between Ukraine and Kazakhstan. It was written by Roman Sydorenko, who also co-directed the film alongside Maksym Yakobchuk. Within the timeline of their work, this 2020 release follows the 2015 film Volunteers and precedes Torture Culture from 2026. The production was managed by producers Ibragim Makhmutov and Dmitry Kirienko. With a runtime of 104 minutes, the film presents a series of frightening encounters and the bloody consequences that follow evil actions.
