Panda Bear in Africa

A young panda leaves China and travels to Africa to rescue a dragon friend who was kidnapped. During this journey, the panda explores unfamiliar landscapes, including jungles, deserts, and mountains. Along the way, he meets various local animals and must use his intelligence and courage to save his companion from those who captured the dragon.

This animated family comedy was co-directed by Richard Claus and Karsten Kiilerich. It is the fourth feature directed by Claus, following The Thief Lord, The Little Vampire 3D, and Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon. For Kiilerich, this project follows five previous films, including The Ugly Duckling and Me!, Albert, The Little Vampire 3D, and Up and Away. The voice cast features Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing as the panda, alongside Maurits Delchot, Namisa Mdalose, Silas Lekgoathi, Candice Modiselle, and Sthandile Nkosi.

Produced as a multi-country collaboration involving Germany, France, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, and the Netherlands Antilles, the film had a budget of 10 million USD. It earned 6 million USD at the worldwide box office, meaning it did not recoup its production costs. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 5.5/10 based on 467 votes on IMDb and a higher score of 7.2/10 from 83 votes on TMDB.
