In Castle Falls, a condemned hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, has been packed with explosives and is hours away from demolition. Nobody involved in the tear-down knows that a gang leader now behind bars once stashed three million dollars in stolen cash inside the empty building. When Mike Wade, a former boxer working on the demolition crew, comes across the money, he becomes the obstacle standing between the loot and everyone else racing to reach it before the charges blow. The film sets a small group of desperate people against each other with the clock running down and the building scheduled to come apart.
Dolph Lundgren directs and appears as Richard Ericson, a prison guard who needs money to pay for his daughter's cancer treatment. Scott Adkins plays Mike, with Kim DeLonghi, Jim E. Chandler, Kevin Wayne and Scott Hunter rounding out the cast. Andrew Knauer wrote the screenplay, and Lundgren produced alongside Craig Baumgarten. It is the fifth film Lundgren directed, following The Russian Specialist, Missionary Man, Icarus and Castle Falls in that order, and preceding Wanted Man. Made for about four million dollars, it is a modest production built around its two action leads.
The film drew limited attention. On IMDb it holds a 5.3 rating from roughly 3,400 votes, while TMDB users rate it 6.2 from a much smaller base of 156 votes. A critics' score of 5.5 from eight reviews sits close to the audience figure on IMDb, suggesting a mixed but not sharply divided response.
