The Trial

Joseph K. is a bank employee who wakes up to find two strangers in his room informing him of his arrest. Although he is not told what charges he faces and is permitted to continue living at home and attending work, he discovers that the legal proceedings against him are genuine. He struggles to understand the nature of the accusations and tries to avoid the judgement of a bureaucratic court system.

This drama thriller was directed by David Hugh Jones and written by Harold Pinter. It is the third film in Jones's career, following 84 Charing Cross Road and Jacknife, and preceding A Christmas Carol. The production was a collaboration between the BBC and Europanda Entertainment B.V. in the United Kingdom. The film features a cast of 41 credited actors, including Kyle MacLachlan as Josef K, Anthony Hopkins as The Priest, Jason Robards as Doctor Huld, Juliet Stevenson as Fraulein Burstner, Polly Walker as Leni, and Alfred Molina as Titorelli.
