Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur

Nobita, the daydreaming boy at the center of the Doraemon series, claims to his friends that he can dig up a complete dinosaur skeleton. They dismiss the boast, but his excavation turns up something better: a fossilized egg. Using one of Doraemon's futuristic gadgets, he restores the egg and hatches a baby dinosaur, a Futabasaurus he names Piisuke. Nobita and his friends raise the creature in secret, but it quickly outgrows any hope of hiding, so the group uses Doraemon's time machine to carry it back to the age when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

The film is a 2006 remake of the first Doraemon feature, expanding the original story with updated traditional and computer animation. Ayumu Watanabe directed, working from a screenplay he wrote with Kōzō Kusuba and Fujiko F. Fujio; it is the sixth film he directed and sits between his earlier Doraemon television works and later features such as Children of the Sea and Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko. Wasabi Mizuta voices Doraemon, Megumi Oohara voices Nobita, and Ryunosuke Kamiki voices Piisuke, with Tomokazu Seki, Subaru Kimura and Yumi Kakazu among the supporting cast.

The film took in roughly 35 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 7.2 rating from about 2,100 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.4 from a much smaller base of 98 votes, indicating a well-liked entry in the long-running series.
